If you do not find the answers to your insurance-related questions on this site, please contact us directly via our GGC Patient Services direct line at 270-780-2491.
This website will be updated as our negotiations continue, so please check back for the most up-to-date information.
What is happening?
Graves Gilbert Clinic (GGC) will no longer participate as an in-network provider with Humana Medicare Advantage and Humana Medicaid plans effective February 1, 2026.
It is unfortunate that are at this stage with Humana. However, we have made every effort to find common ground, but Humana has remained unresponsive to the needs of our patients and families in Southcentral Kentucky.
This impacts GGC patients who are covered by a Humana plan for the 2026 benefit year. This means you may pay more out-of-pocket for the health care services you receive through Graves Gilbert Clinic moving forward.
We understand this change may cause concern. Our top priority is protecting your access to safe, continuous, and high-quality care.
We are committed to helping every affected patient understand their options and transition smoothly.
If you are a GGC patient currently with a Humana plan, please review the information below and contact our GGC Patient Service Line at 270-780-2491 (Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.) for personalized assistance.
Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly is changing?
Beginning February 1, 2026, GGC will be out-of-network with:
- Humana Medicare Advantage plans
- Humana Medicaid plans
You may still receive care at GGC, but your out-of-pocket costs may increase under those plans.
Who is affected by this change?
This change applies only to patients insured under:
- Humana Medicare Advantage
- Humana Medicaid
If you have Original Medicare or a different commercial insurance plan, you are not affected.
Who is not affected?
This change does NOT affect:
- Original Medicare (red/white/blue card)
- Other Medicare Advantage plans
- Commercial / employer-based insurance
- Medicare Supplements (including Humana Supplements)
- Humana Medicare Advantage PPO plans with in and out of network coverage, like KPPA & KTRS retirees
Why is this happening?
GGC and Humana have been in discussions for many months. Unfortunately, we were unable to reach an agreement that supports:
✔ Timely payments
✔ Patient access without administrative barriers
✔ Sustainable, high-quality care in our region
Our mission is — and always has been — to protect the health of this community.
Could the contract still be renewed?
Yes. Negotiations are ongoing, and a resolution may still be reached before February 1, 2026. We will keep you informed of any updates.
What if I have an appointment scheduled after February 1, 2026?
You may keep your appointment, but it may be considered out-of-network with Humana after [effective date]. This could affect your out-of-pocket costs.
We recommend:
- Contacting Humana Member Services (number on your card) to discuss your plan options.
- Calling our GGC Patient Services Line at 270-780-2491 for help reviewing your care and financial options.
- If you have surgery, pregnancy care, or another ongoing treatment plan, our care coordination team will reach out to you directly.
Can I continue seeing my GGC doctor?
✅ Yes. Always.
You can:
- Transition to a plan that includes GGC in-network, or
- Continue care at GGC as out-of-network (costs may vary)
What if I want to stay with my GGC doctor even if you’re out-of-network?
You can still receive care at Graves Gilbert Clinic. However, visits and procedures may be billed as out-of-network under your Humana plan, which could increase your costs.

- Estimate your potential out-of-pocket costs
- Review payment options

Good news for Humana Medicare Advantage PPO patients!
We know insurance changes can feel overwhelming — so we want to keep this simple:
If you have a Humana Medicare Advantage PPO plan, including Kentucky State Retiree plans, you can continue receiving care at Graves Gilbert Clinic without additional out-of-pocket expense.
Your PPO plan provides in-network and out-of-network coverage at the same cost to you, which means you still have covered access to the trusted care teams you know at GGC.
Not impacted by the recent announcement:
- Humana Medicare Supplement plans
- KPPA — Kentucky Public Pension Authority retirees
- KTRS — Kentucky Teacher Retirement System retirees
If you have questions about your specific plan or next steps, our team is here to help.
Will other insurance plans be affected?
No. This change applies only to Humana Medicare Advantage and Humana Medicaid plans.
All other commercial insurance, Original Medicare, and other Medicare Advantage carriers remain unaffected.
